BOROUGH RATES

RESIDENTS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF DISCOUNT. INCREASE IN RECEIPTS TO DATE. Masterton borough rates are coming in very freely. Up to closing time - yesterday the sum received total £14,941, which is an increase of £4,500 on the total in hand at the corresponding date last year. The amount levied is £37,500.

The last day on which the discount of 5 per cent is allowable is Friday and when the office closes at 4.30 p.m. it is expected that the amount of rates collected will prove to be very satisfactory.
