ESPERANTO
MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. There was an excellent attendance at the weekly meeting of the Masterton Esneranto Club held last evening and presided over by Mr A. G. WiltSh As delegate to the New Zealand Esperanto Association. Mr W. H. King, announced that the parent body is investigating the position relating tc the 11th New Zealand Esperanto Congress, due to be held at Wanganui a New Year. Owing to the continuance of the war. however.' it is uncertain at this juncture whether or not the Dominion gathering will take place. It was reported that the War Offict has sanctioned the formation of Espetanto classes for officers and men in the British Army, and that already a c ’ a ®f has been established among the R.A.t personnel in Egypt. During the tuition period both the elementary and advanced classes undertook translation work, the former group having completed after five months its study of Esperanto syntax Conversational practice also occupied a portion of the session for which both classes combined. Miss E. Wiltshire, a first year student. presented an original article in Esperanto entitled TIokeo” (Hockey), which proved to be interesting and well-written. The final ten minutes were devoted to general questions.
