EKETAHUNA

PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE MEETING OF LADIES. (“Times-Age” Special.) At a meeting of the ladies' patriotic committee Miss M. Anderson presided. It was reported that a further four cases of clothes for refugees had been forwarded to the Lady Galway Refugee Guild. The committee discussed ways and means of raising funds for the purpose of providing comforts and Christmas parcels for soldiers and it was finally decided to hold a shop day for this purpose. Mr C. Doney, Wellington, was a weekend visitor to Eketahuna.

Mrs M. R. Herbert, Alfredton Road, has returned home much improved in health.

Miss A. Anderson, Alfredton Road has returned after visiting Auckland and Wellington. Miss Julius, Wanganui, is the gue" of Mrs E. M. Simmers.

Mr Ernest George Percival Dawsett who died in Woodville recently, at the age of 58 years was at one time engaged in farming in the Eketahuna district. He is survived by his wife, Mrs J. E. Dowsett, of Woodville, and three daughters, Mesdames Beatrice Terry (Woodville), Harrowfield (Napier), and C. Cotter (Owhanga). Mr W. Dowsett (Newman) is a brother. Rugby Football. The secretary of the Bush Rugby Union (Mr S. G. Hogg) has received official information that the New Zealand Army Rugby team will visit Pahiatua next Saturday to play .the Bush representatives.
