REFUSAL TO SURRENDER TERRITORY
OCCUPATION OF TRENCHES LEFT BY TROOPS.
EXTRA POLICE RUSHED TO TRANSYLVANIA.

Police reinforcements were rushed to Transylvania last night to prevent further demonstrations against the cession of the territory. Peasants are reported to have occupied the trenches which the Rumanian forces evacuated and to have sworn to die fighting rather than yield up the territory to Hungary. ' Transylvanians heard a broadcast in Rumanian from London. beginning: "Brothers, you know my voice." Listeners recognised the voice of M. Tilea ex-Rumanian Minister in London. Many afterwards demonstrated in village squares. HUNGARIAN ARMY DEMOBILISATION ORDERED. ACCORDING TO REPORT FROM ROME. (Received This Day, 12.25 p.m.) ROME. September 1. The radio stated the demobilisation of the Hungarian Army is beginning on September 2.
