The Minister for the Navy, Mr Cameron, said stirring accounts of the successes of Australian warships in recent overseas actions made it clear that the Royal Australian Navy was giving a good account of itself in an important theatre of war. H.M.A.S. Sydney. within three weeks, had successfully helped in attacks on the Italian stronghold of Bardia and in the sinking of Italian destroyers and had clinched her winning burst, by sinking the Italian cruiser Bartolomeo Colleoni. The cruiser Hobart and the destroyers Voyager and Sturt had taken part also in successful actions.
