WARWICK FARM MEETING A THRILLING DUEL. BEAULTVRE BEATS READING. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright ! SYDNEY, September 1. In the first important spring meeting the Warwick Farm races, at Randwick yesterday, a large crowd was rewarded with a thrilling duel between Beaulivre and Reading in the Warwick Stakes, in which Beau Vite also participated. Beaulivre’s superior condition enabled him to beat Reading by half a length in 1.24 J, which compares favourably with the Australian and New Zealand record of 1.23. Actually, today’s race, with the false rail in use, was seven furlongs and 22} yards. Reading was having his first race since the autumn, and certainly enhanced his prestige for the Metropolitan Handicap, for which he is the public’s first choice, as is Beaulivre for the Epsom Handicap. Beau Vite ran in fourth position throughout this race and finished strongly in that order. Beaupartir and Nightbeam were beaten out of a place in«*the Glenlee Handicap, which was won by the Beau Pere —Curtsey mare Snow Queen in hollow fashion. The jockey Munro is in a dilemma over mounts in the Epsom Handicap. He js tentatively engaged to ride Beaulivre. but can be claimed for Mildura in that race. No decision as to whether Mildura will run in the Epsom will be reached till September 14. lie won so well yesterday that his trainer. Price, is urging his owner, Mr E. J. Watt, to allow him to remain in the Epsom Handicap. Munro is of the opinion that Beaulivre will take a lot of beating in the Epsom. The chief results were. —

Warwick Stakes.—Beaulivre. 9.0 (Munro), 1; Reading, 9.0 (Cook). 2; Buzzalong, 9.0 (Shean), 3. Thirteen started, including Beau Vite and Mosaic. Half a length; one length and three-quarters. Beau Vite was fourth. Time, 1.24 J.
