INFLEXIBLE RESOLVE

REAFFIRMED BY HOUSE OF RERESENTATIVES. TRIBUTE TO THE PEOPLE OF BRITAIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. New' Zealand's loyalty to the cause for Avhich the British Commonwealth of Nations took up arms Avas reaffirmed in an unanimous resolution passed by the House of Representatives yesterday before it adjourned' till the beginning of October. The motion was moved by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, and seconded by the Leader ’of the Opposition, Mr Hamilton. After mentioning that the anniversary of the outbreak of Avar was on Tuesday, Mr Fraser said he felt sure that the House Avould not like to go into recess Avithout declaring once again its allegiance to and faith in the cause for Avhich the British Commonwealth of Nations was fighting. He believed that the motion voiced the sentiments of every member of the House and the people of the Dominion as a whole. The text of the resolution is as follows:—

That on the occasion of the anniversary of the declaration of Avar against Nazi Germany, this House, in the name and on behalf of the people of New Zealand, records its firm and unsAverving devotion to the cause of freedom, democracy and Christian civilisation for which the British Commonwealth took up arms, and its inflexible resolution to do all that lies in its power to the utmost limit of the Dominion’s resources to contribute tOAvard the decisive defeat of the enemy, the overthrow of the Nazi and Fascist tyranny and the establishment of a lasting peace based on justice to all the peoples concerned. This House records its high admiration of the great and indomitable courage of the people of the United Kingdom in face of continuous attack, and of the fine achievements in many fields of action of the Navy, Army and Air Force, in. the ranks of which many New Zealanders are serving with distinction.
