LATE RATES RULE FOR MUTTON RISE IN BEEF PRICES (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, August 30. Late rates ruled for mutton at Feilding today, and for all other stock there was a fair demand at firm prices. Beef moved upward in price, the entry being of good quality. Fat sheep: Lack of finish in the mutton entry was responsible for a further slight restriction on values, though extra prime lines were up to previous prices. Extra prime wethers made 40s. prime 33s 4d to 36s Id, unfinished 24s 4d to 32s 6d; extra prime ewes 38s to 39s lOd, prime 33s 4d to 36s lOd. medium prime 30s to 32s lOd, light 23s lOd to 28s 7d; prime hoggets 34s lOd to 38s lOd, light prime 28s 4d to 325, unfinished 23s to 27s 7d.

Store sheep: The entry in this section was light but of fairly good quality. Ewe hoggets sold freely. Good wether hoggets made 255, others 17s 6d to 19s; best ewe hoggets, woolly, 33s 8d to 37s 9d, second-grade lines 28s 9d to 30s, shorn 21s 6d to 26s 2d. Store cattle: Run stock enjoyed a good demand, with prices quite up to late rates. Forward-conditioned cattle, in particular, made good values. Yearling Hereford steers, best, made £5 19s, small £3 10s; A.A. yearling steers £4 12s 6d to £5 10s; A.A. cows £4 17s 6d; A.A. heifers, good two-year-old lines, £6 5s to £6 15s, yearlings £3 2s Gd; A.A. bulls £4 10s; yearling crossbred heifers £4 10s; empty run cows £4 Is to £5 19s; empty heifers £4 6s; yearling Jersey heifers, good. £5, small £2 2s 6d to £3 17s 6d; works cows £2 to £4 10s. Dairy cattle: A better change in values for good heifers and cows nearing profit was recorded. Both descriptions met with a ready demand. Best springing heifers made £ll 10s to £l2 15s, second-quality lines £9 10s to £ll, others £8 10s; good cows £lO to £ll 15s, later calvers £5 10s to £9 ss. Beef: Some extra prime heifers were yarded, and keen competition for them caused a rise in values to more than £2 a 1001 b. Cow beef showed no change in price. Extra prime A.A. heifers made £l5 2s 6d to £l5 17s 6d, lightweights £7 17s 6d to £9, unfinished to £7; prime cows £9 5s to £lO 12s 6d, light £7 17s 6d to £9. unfinished £5 to £,' 7 ss; prime oxen £l4 2s 6d to £l5 17s 6d, light £l2 17s 6d.

Pigs: High values were again reached by good weaners and stores. Best weaners made to 28s; slips,, £1 11s to £1 13s; stores £2 to £2 16s.
