THE REPORTED CLASH RUSSIA AND RUMANIAN FORCES. ON THE NEW FRONTIER. A joint Rumanian and Russian commission is making an investigation the clash stated to have occurred between Russians and Rumanians on the new frontier, Daventry reports. A message from London yesterday read: —Reports from Bucharest state that a clash between Russians and Rumanians occurred on August 24 in the neighbourhood of Herta in northern Moldavia, resulting in 50 casualties. Further incidents occurred to August 26 when Soviet aircraft, it is alleged, violated the frontier by flying over the Falciu district. One Russian and one Rumanian plane are reported to have been brought down. It is unofficially estimated that 20 Russian divisions are concentrated in the recently-ceded territories of Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina. The Soviet, it is stated, presented a Note to the Rumanian Government last night. DISPUTE SETTLED (Received This Day. 10.25 a.m.) LONDON. August 28. The Associated Press of Great Britains’ Bucharest correspondent says a Russian-Rumanian commission, it is reported, has settled the Bessarabian dispute.
