ALLEGED ATTACK

ON HUNGARIAN BOMBER PROTEST TO RUMANIA INVESTIGATION ORDERED IN BUCHAREST. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) BUDAPEST, August 28. The Government has ordered the Hungarian Minister in Bucharest to protest against a Rumanian attack on a Hungarian bomber.

The official news agency claims that the bomber was attacked while reconnoitring inside Hungarian territory. It adds that the attack constituted a “manifest act of war against Hungary.It is officially announced in Bucharest that an investigation is being made into the alleged attack. Rumania is ready to give Hungary complete satisfaction if found “guilty.” The Hungarian and Rumanian Foreign Ministers have been summoned to Vienna to meet the Italian and German Foreign Ministers tomorrow.

It is stated that the conference was ordered by Hitler as a result of the breakdown in the discussions between Rumania and Hungary in the question of Transylvania. It is officially stated in Berlin that the talks will be based on the principles laid down at Salzburg when Hitler order Rumania to settle with Hungary and with consideration also being given to subsequent experience. The German and Italian Ministers in Bucharest and Budapest have been recalled to report on the Translyvania question.
