Weather Conditions.
The district has been particularly fortunate in the weather experienced this winter in that there has not been a fall of snow in the town. Last. August produced the heaviest fall for many years. With such a state of affairs an early spring has resulted and stone fruit trees carry a heavy load of blossom. If the weather continues favourable doubtless a good percentage of the blossom will set. Many gardeners in Masterton have taken advantage of the suitable spell to sow early crops. Petrol for Shearers.
A request for an extra allowance of petrol for shearers who own motorcars to enable them to carry out their work during the season was contained in a question, addressed to the Minister of Supply. Mr Sullivan, of which notice was given in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr Kidd said it would be difficult to get shearers this season, and many of the men in sparsc-lv-settled areas had to a lot of travelling. Unless supplied with extra petrol, it would be most difficult for them to do their work as expeditiously as in previous years.
