STAND BY GOVERNOR OF CHAD REFUSAL TO CAPITULATE. MR CHURCHILL’S ASSURANCE. General de Gaulle announces, a Daventry broadcast states, that the Governor of Chad, in French Equatorial Africa, has refused to capitulate and is continuing to fight in alliance with Britain. Mr Winston Churchill has given an assurance that economic assistance comparable with that granted to British colonies will be given to all French overseas territories loyal to the Allies.
