Groube, Swamp Road, Carterton. has found it necessary to enter the Greytown Hospital where he will undergo an operation. Method of Treating Posts. The following method for making *• softwoods suitable for fencing timber has been sent in by a correspondent. The timber must . be thoroughly dry and seasoned before being placed in the ground. The treatment used is a solution of lime water, mixed in a tub or trough for from 12 to 24 hours. After treatment the timber should be. dried and’ painted with diluted' sul-* phuric acid. The part so treated becomes as hard as stone and is much more durable than when coated with tar. It is claimed that posts so treated and used for fencing off turnips or rape show no sign of deterioration for years.
