ABORTIVE RAID
ALEXANDRIA BOMBED BY ITALIANS
NO DAMAGE DONE. CASUALTIES SLIGHT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.55 a.m). , RUGBY, August 26. The Commander-in-Chief in the Mediterranean announces: “An air raid took place over Alexandria in the early hours of this morning. Several bombs were dropped, but no damage was done, and only slight casualties were sustained.” More raids on objectives in Italian Africa are reported from Cairo, a Daventry broadcast states. All the British machines returned safely. ONE PERSON KILLED FIVE OTHERS WOUNDED. (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) ALEXANDRIA. August 26. The sixth air raid within four days lasted for ninety minutes. Highexplosive bombs and incendiary bombs were dropped. One person was killed and five wounded. The damage was slight.
