ANOTHER BREAK
LIKELY IN PARLIAMENTARY SESSION ADJOURNMENT ANTICIPATED AT END OF WEEK. HOUSE MEETING TOMORROW. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The House of Representatives, which was called together last week after a three weeks’ recess, may adjourn again for a similar period on Friday. This was the opinion expressed in an interview last night by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser. The Prime Minister said that the only other legislation to be introduced at present was a second Finance Bill apart from which there was comparatively little to be done. He was unable to say definitely whether the FinanceBill would include provision for the excess profits tax which, according tc the Budget, is to transfer to the State the whole of any excess profit made during the war period. Other business to come before the House this week includes the Statutes Amendment Bill, which was introduced on Friday, the Carriage by Air Bill, the Local Legislation Bill,' and possibly the Insurance Companies Bill, which was referred to a committee during the earlier part of the session. The House will not meet this week till tomorrow. The Prime Minister indicated nevertheless that he thought it should be possible in the throe sitting days thus available this week to dispose of everything on hand in time to enable members to leave Wellington by Friday night for another three or four weeks.
