STOCK MARKET

FEUDING SALE AN EASIER TONE EVIDENT. FAT SHEEP PRICES DECLINE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING. August 23. An easier tone was evident at the Feilding stock sale today, neither sheep nor cattle realising the high values of the previous two weeks. The clearance, however, was good with the exception of some lines of station cattle, for which the reserves were too high. In the fat sheep section a heavy entry of ewes proved rather more than market requirements, and prices, except for extra prime lines, declined. Wethers and hoggets were also easier. Extra prime wethers made 38s Id to 39s 4d, prime 35s to 36s 4d. unfinished 27s 4d to 335; prime hoggets 31s lOd, med'um prime 23s Id to 24s lOd, others 22s Id; extra prime ewes 35s lOd to 37s lOd, prime 32s 3d lo 355, light prime 29s to 31s 7d. unfinished 24s lOd to 27s 6d; fat lambs 20s 4d. Hoggets made up the greater part of the store sheep entry and sold well, the demand for good wethers being strong. Very few breeding ewes were available. Best wether hoggets sold for 23s to 24s 9d, good 20s 3d to 22s 9d. small 14s to 16s; very good ewe hoggets 35s 4d, second quality 31s 9d to 32s 6d, others 24s to 28s 6d; miked-sex hoggets 25s 6d, back faced 19s 7d to 19s lOd; good two-tooth ewes 395; five-year-in-lamb ewes, 31s 9d to 335; fair aged in-lamb ewes 23s Bd. A good selection of run cattle was offered, but only those in forward condition brought competition. Yearling Jersey heifers again found a ready market. Forward A.A. bullocks brought £lO 19s; good three-year heifers £B, smaller £6; two-year A.A. heifers £4 3s to £4 10s; two-year A.A. steers, very good £6 15s, small £4 19s A.A. and Hereford cows £6; yearling Jersey heifers, good £5 5s to £6 10s, others £2 4s 6d to £5; empty heifers £5 4s; works cows £3 to £4 17s 6d. ■, Some select quality heifers were included in a moderate-sized dairy cattle yarding and sold very well. Very good springing heifers made £l2 15s to £l5. second grade £lO 10s to £l2 10s. others £7 5s to £10; best springing cows £lO to £l3. later calvers £5 to £8 10s.

Beef prices showed a decline on those of the two previous weeks, though prime lines of heifers commanded spirited bidding and good values. Extra prime heifers sold for £l2 17s 6d to £l4 7s 6d, prime £lO 7s 6d £l2 12s 6d, lighter £5 17s 6d to £9 2s 6d; prime cows £9 to £lO 12s 6d, medium prime £7 17s 6d, light £4 15s to £7; prime oxen £l3 2s 6d to £l3 7s 6d; vealers £4 15s to £5 12s 6d; runners £7 2s 6d.

The inquiry for pigs was particularly keen and prices were high. Weaners made 16s 6d; slips £1 13s; stores £1 19s; porkers £2 8s to £2 13s.
