ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
NURSING DIVISION. PRESENTATION OF CERTIFICATES A happy gathering, presided over by Mrs H. E. Pither, the Nursing Division's President, was held last evening in the Lecture Room, Municipal Buildings, when Dr Helen Cowie presented 28 first aid and 20 home nursing certificates to members who had recently passed examinations in these subjects. Miss Olive Clemas was also presented with a certificate of appointment as Lady Cadet Superintendent. Dr Helen Cowie complimented the members on their success and appealed to them to continue with a work which was so important at the present time.
A large number of the girls enrolled as members of the Nursing Division. Addresses were given by Miss Whitehouse, the Lady Divisional Superintendent, and Mrs D. McKenzie, Lady Ambulance Officer, on the work to be done by the members of the Nurs-' ing Division. Concern was expressed by members over the frequent absence from public gatherings of members of the nursing and medical professions. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Dr Helen Cowie.
The meeting closed with the singing of the New Zealand National Anthem.
