Miss W. Davie, Worksop Road, Masterton, is staying at Otaki. Miss P. Peters, Woodville, is spending the term holidays in Masterton. Mrs J. R. Nicholls and family. Bideford. are visiting Lower Hutt. Miss Mary Monro, Lansdowne, is visiting her sister, Mrs E. B. Tanner, Napier. Mrs J. D. O'Connor and Miss M. O'Connor, of Masterton, are visiting Wellington.

Mrs Barclay, Waitara, is the guest of Mrs E. G. Eton, Cornwall Street, Masterton.

Mrs W. H. Robieson, King Edward Street. Lansdowne, spent the weekend in Wellington.

Mrs H. Keesing, Wanganui, is visiting her sister, Mrs H. H. Daniell, The Terrace, Lansdowne. Mrs Elizabeth O'Neil, wife of Mr William O'Neil, died at Newman yesterday al the age of 75 years.

Mrs Nicholls and family, Waikaremoana, are staying with Mrs E. E. Horner, Essex Street, Masterton.

Mr and Mrs V. Fry, Umukuri, Motueka, are guests of Mrs R. A. Webber, Millard Avenue, Masterton. The death has occurred at Featherston of Mrs Millicent Hughes, mother of Mrs F. W. Smith, at the age of 84 years. At Palmerston North recently Mr James Frederick Cane, son of Mr and Mrs J. E. W. Cane, of Tararua Street, Masterton. was married to Miss Vena Mavis Berryman, daughter of Mr and Mrs A. J. Berryman, of Palmerston North.

A number of the friends of Mrs S. Wilson, Masterton, paid a surprise visit to her home last night in celebration of her birthday, a very pleasant time being spent. Mrs H. Joyce presented Mrs Wilson with a bouquet, and presentations were also made to Mrs Wilson by those present. A card tournament was held and was greatly enjoyed. The gathering was brought to a close with the serving of supper.
