NANKING & TOKIO
SAID TO BE AT ODDS. OVER QUESTION OF CONTROL IN SHANGHAI. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) TOKIO, August 19. Japanese efforts to control the British defence areas in Shanghai without consulting Nanking have precipitated a dispute between Nanking and Tokio and may delay the signing of the peace treaty.
Mr Wang Ching-Wei’s “Daily News” in an editorial, warned the Japanese that they would be unable to carry out their new order programme if they continued to insist on acting as Nanking's representative internationally.

The Japan Bar Association have passed a resolution urging the Government to immediately occupy the British sector in Shanghai.
