Public Prayer Meeting.

A public prayer meeting will be held in the Opera House, Masterton, tomorrow, from 12.30 p.m. till 1.30 p.m.

R.S.A. Membership. The financial membership of the Wairarapa R.S.A. now totals 708. which is the highest for some years. The record membership was 832 in 1922.

Water-Race Improvements. About twenty men are employed under the No. 13 Scheme by the Masterton County Council in improving the Upper Plain and Fernridge waterraces. The work consists in effecting general improvements to the waterraces and deviating them where necessary. Lambing .General.

Lambing’is now general in the Wairarapa and it is anticipated, following the unusually mild weather experienced this winter, that, good percentages will be the rule. The construction of the new concrete bridge over the Taueru River on the Master ton-Stronvar Highway is well

under way. The contractors have placed the expansion rocker bearings and the girder steel in position and are proceeding with the cartage of the form work for the superstructure. It is anticipated that the bridge might be open for traffic inside two months. Office Improvement.

The Masterton office of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency CoLtd., has been completely rearranged and renovated. The office staff is now accommodated on the Perry Street side of the building, where the maximum amount of sunshine is available while lhe portion until lately used as offices has been converted into a showroom. in which are displayed various farm and station requirements handled by the firm. Both the interior and exterior of Hie building have been painted and the improvements generally have made the offices much more comfortable for the staff, and at the same time have enabled goods to be effectively displayed for public inspection.
