Mrs Faulknor, Hastings, is slaying at the Hotel Midland, Masterton. The appointment of Miss O. M. Graham. New Plymouth, as matron of Pukeora sanatorium, in place of Miss | C. J. Cameron, who has retired, was I made by the Waipawa Hospital Board yesterday. Miss Graham is at present sister-in-charge of the tuberculosis block and tuberculosis clinic at Now Plymouth Hospital. Mrs K. C. Cairns. Waipukurau, was appointed submatron in place of Miss M. M. Mahoney, who has volunteered for nursing service with the military forces. The death occurred on Tuesday of Mrs Marion Snowden, one of the oldest residents of Onehunga, in her eightyfourth year. Mrs Snowden was born in Paisley, Scotland, in 1856, and came to New Zealand with her parents when a girl. Her father, Mr J. Ritchie, lived in Onehunga till after the Waikato War. when he took up a block of land at Orua Bay, near the Manukau Heads. Mrs Snowden nad vivid memories of the war, often being compelled to seek shelter at the old blockhouse with her mother and brothers and sisters when Maoris threatened to raid Onehunga. She was married at the age of 23 to Mr George B. Snowden, an enginer, and settled in Onehunga. where she had lived since. Mr and Mrs Snowden celebrated their golden wedding in 1929. Mr Snowden died six years ago. Mrs Snowden is survived by two sons and two daughters. There are five grand-children and two great-grand-children.
