ELECTRIC POWER
MEETING OF WAIRARAPA BOARD INCREASE IN REVENUE MAINTAINED. SECRETARY-MANAGER'S REPORT ("Times-Age” Special.) "The steady increase in revenue so far experienced this year was maintained during the month of July," stated the secretary-manager, Mr Geo. Brown, at the monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board, held at Carterton today. The gain on last year was £605 and the gain on the estimate £155 for last month and for the first four months of the financial year (April-July) the gain on last year was £2263. The position in connection with the cost of power was satisfactory. The number of consumers was 6122 to date, coinpared with 5913 last year. The position concerning stocks and generally satisfactory. Prices continued to increase and there were long delays 'in delivery but no drastic curtailment of work was necessary in the meantime. Mr H. B. Keenan, chief engineer, submitted a report covering the engineering activities of the board in detail during the past month. In the northern, central and southern areas no major breakdowns had occurred. Good progress was being made with the usual maintenance work.
