OBITUARY

MRS MARGARET SHAW. The death occurred yesterday at the residence of her daughter, Mrs C. B. McClymont, Queen Street, Masterton. of a very old resident of Masterton in the person of Mrs Margaret Shaw, relict of Mr William Shaw, who died about five years ago. The late Mrs Shaw, who was held in high esteem by a wide circle of friends, was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs William Adams. “Mt. Pleasant,” Masterton, pioneer settlers of the district. Mr Adams came out to New Zealand at the. time of the Maori wars with the 65th Regiment. The late Mrs Shaw was born in Masterton and had lived here all her life. She leaves one daughter, Mrs C. B. McClymont, of Masterton. Another daughter. Mrs G. McClymont, died seven years ago. She is also survived by three brothers, Messrs Henry, Upper Hutt; Charles, Te Awamutu; and Herbert Adams, Wellington), and four sisters (iVlesdaines E. Ashton, Petone; J. Townsley, Wellington; J. Mowbray, Wellington; and McPherson, Napier). The funeral will be a private one. MRS M. M. PINKERTON. A very old resident in the person of Mrs Martha Mary Pinkerton passed away at the residence of her daughter, Essex Street. Masterton, last evening. She was in her 91st year and she was the widow of the late Mi’ C. A. Pinkerton. Coming to New Zealand from England when she was a young woman. Mrs Pinkerton experienced and shared with her husband all the ups and downs of the early pioneers, facing difficulties and hardships with a determination that made her an asset to the land of her adoption. For the last three years, unfortunately, her health had not permitted her to enjoy visiting her old friends and to exchange reminiscences, which were always a joy and pleasure to her. Mrs Pinkerton was a very loyal member of St Matthew's Church. A son, three daughters, several grandchildren and great grandchildren arc left to mourn their great loss. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving St Matthew’s Church following a service which will be held at 3 p.m., for the Masterton Cemetery. MRS JOE BROWN. The death occurred at Te Ore Ove on Saturday of Mrs Paara Paraone (Mrs Joe Brown i. wife of Mr Teohonga Paraone. at the age of 67 years. She had resided in the To Ore Oro district, practically all her life. The funeral will take place on Wednesday, leaving the meeting house. To Ore Ore. following a service to be held at 2 p.m.. for the Te Ore Ore Native Cemetery.
