S. A .MILLS TROPHY TO R. GREEKS.

N. JACOBSEN WINS JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP.

On Saturday, in showery conditions, the Kiatere Harrier Club held its annual senior and junior 6.', mile and 3 1-8 mile chub championships. The S. A. Mills Trophy lor the senior race was won by R. Greeks, from W. Burns, 'the junior championship cup was easily accounted for by N. Jacobsen.

The juniors were first away, and after the first half-mile Jacobsen drew away to win comfortably from F. Sexton, with S. Pickett in third place. The winner's time was excellent considering the very heavy going. The following are detailed results: —N. Jacobsen 19.15. 1; F. Sexton, 21.39. 2; S. Pickett. 23.5. 3. A sealed handicap run in con junction with the junior race resulted as follows: —N. Jacobsen (scr). 19.51, 1: F. Sexton (2.15). 19.24. 2; S. Pickett (3.15). 19.50, 3.

The seniors were despatched by Mi' W. Ashworth (timekeeper), and from a very last start. R. Searancke. \V. Burns. R. Greeks, and J. L. Burns took the lead. The pace was. very solid throughout. At the end of the first lap R. Greeks lead by 20 yards from W. Burns who was followed some 250 yards back by R. Searancke. Then came L. Bird. L. Frances. J. L. Burns, and C. Summers. The two leaders kept together till about a mile from home then R. Greeks gradually forged ahead to win by 50 yards from W. Burns with L. Bird a long way back in third place. Both Greeks and Burns ran very well, and considering the state of the ground, the times were excellent. Detailed results areas follows: —R. Greeks 37.15. 1; W. Burns. 37.43, 2; L. Bird, 4L58. 3. Next week the five-mile Wairarapa District Championship will be held from the Solway showgrounds, commencing at 2.30 p.m. sharp. A junior teams’ race- between the Kiatere and Masterton junior runners is to bo arranged, and a keen contest should result.

Members and supporters of the club will regret to learn that Mr Alex MacDonald, one of the club's popular members, is at present in the Masterton Public Hospital.
