WOMEN’S DIVISION COMPETITION RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs D. Fraser presided over a failattendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Women’s Institute? The meeting opened with the singing of the National Anthem, the Ode to Friendship and the prayer for peace. Mrs Fraser welcomed members of Hastwells Institute who provided an enjoyable programme. The hostesses were Mesdames McAnulty, Olivant and Curry. The competitions were judged by Mesdames Dick and Madsen (Hastwells), and resulted as follows: Man’s buttonhole (19 entries): Mrs F. Baucke, 1; Mrs J. Tolley. 2; Mrs F. Baucke, 3. Posies: Mrs J. Tolley, 1; Mrs F. Baucke, 2; Mrs D. Fraser, 3. Date scones: Mrs P. Fauvel, 1. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the Hastwells members. LABOUR PARTY MEETING OF EKETAHUNA BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Eketahuna branch of the Labour Party was held on Saturday night when Mr H. Dearie, in the absence through illness of the president, Mr G. Hansen, presided over a fair attendance of members. After a lengthy discussion it was resolved that the Eketahuna Production Committee consider the appointment of an employees’ representative on the committee. The meeting then discussed for an hour matters relating to the working class. The majority of the members admitted they had hazy ideas concerning many points in the War Regulations and it was finally decided to invite Mr J. Robertson, M.P., to address a special meeting of members at a date that was most suitable to him. It was decided to make suitable presentations to two members of the third, echelon, Privates Lobban and B. Minnett. , , ♦ A euchre tournament was played at the conclusion of business, the winners being:—Ladies: Miss P. O Regan, after a play-off with Mrs A. Falknei, men, Mr D. Butcher, after a play-off with Mr S. Daniel. In a competition for a mans pullover. Mr H. Aston was the lucky ticket holder. Bankruptcy. Roy Trenton Giles, of Eketahuna. has been declared a bankrupt. A meeting of creditors will be held at the Eketahuna Courthouse on Friday. August 9, at 10 a.m.
