ATLANTIC FLIGHT
MADE BY FLYING-BOAT. CRAFT BUILT FOR AUSTRALIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day. 10.25 a.m.) gOTWOOD. August 4. The flying-boat Clare, formerly named Australia, and built, for the Australian route, but transferred to the Atlantic service, arrived here from Ireland, refuelled and took off for Montreal. A later message reports the arrival of the Clare at Botwood, Newfoundland, en route to Montreal and New York after a flight across the Atlantic in sixteen hours six minutes. This flight is the first of a short series which the British Overseas Airways Corporation is undertaking in continuation of its experimental service last summer. Eire, Newfoundland and the Canadian authorities are co-operating in the provision of the navigational facilities necessary to ensure the safety of the crossing.
