FRENCH PROTEST
AGAINST BRITISH NAVAL LANDING. IN WEST AFRICAN PORT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day. 10.25 a.m.) VICHY, August 4. A Government communique declared that the British cruiser Bulolo, which has been anchored at Duala (French West Africa) since June 25, was replaced by H.M.S. Dragon on July 21, when armed British patrdßs landed and marched through the town. The communique continues: "The French Admiral, commanding the Atlantic forces. ' quickly intervened, whereupon the British returned to their ship. In. Madagascar it was necessary to explain the circumstances in which the recent decision, of extending territorial limits to 20 miles, applied. It was specified that the extension did not apply to British or other merchantmen, which could move freely in this zone. ’ There is a British armed merchantman named Bulolo.
