ANGER IN GERMANY

OVER AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE OF NEW GUINEA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) BERLIN. August 3. The news agency says the Australian Government’s decision to include New Guinea and Papua in the Australian defence system has aroused indignation in Germany. It is described by the Berlin morning newspapers as a gross breach of international law. The “Lokal-Tnzeiger” says Germany has not forgotten it was this mandatory power which made a cowardly attack in 1914 on this wholly unfortified and unprotected German area, and since 1920 has exploited it unilaterally to its own advantage, in violent contradiction of the mandatory principle.
