MEETING IN MASTERTON. An “at home” was held by the Masterton branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union at the residence of the president, Miss Tankersley. Johnstone Street, on Thursday afternoon and was well attended. Mis Jansen led the devotions. Several apologies for absence were received. A report was received in connection with the successful youth rally and tea held on Sunday last in the Parish Hall and which was attended by 200 persons. A “sing-song” to an orchestral accompaniment was much enjoyed. This was followed by an interesting address on "Alcohol” by Mistook of Wellington. Afternoon tea was handed round and a pleasant social hour spent. Miss Jackson voiced the thanks of chose present to Miss Tankersley for her hospitality. Two songs were rendered by Mrs H. Speight The Temperance fact was supplied by Mrs Jansen as follows: “Total abstinence from alcoholic drink makes for the full development and use of the brain and muscle.' It promotes good health and long life—Dr Eric Gould, F.R.C.S.” A collection was taken up for patriotic purposes. The meeting concluded with the singing ofi the National Anthem and : the Doxology.
