Mrs Stent, of Carterton, is on a visit to Hastings. Mrs D. B. Cameron, Hinakura, is visiting Hawke’s Bay, Mrs H. H. Morrison, Awatoitoi, who nas been visiting Hawke's Bay, has returned to Masterton.
Miss M. Diamond, Wellington, is spending the weekend with her mother, Mrs Diamond, Pahiatua. Miss Kummer, Cole Street, Masterton, and Mrs J. Bird, Renall Street, Masterton, are visiting Gisborne. Mr and Mrs Walter Kummer, Te Wharau, are visiting Gisborne, where they will attend the wedding of their son, today. The death occurred at Levin yesterday of Mrs Hannah Better, relict of the late Mr J. C. Retter, in her 101st year. Cable advice has been received from Hull, England, of the death of Miss Reba Cohen, L.R.A.M., formerly of Auckland. Miss Cohen was a wellknown operatic soprano. She studied under Mr Colin Muston and the late Mr Barry Coney, after which she went abroad to study. She subsequently joined the Carl Rosa Opera Company. Later she settled in Hull, where she began teaching singing and broadcasting. At the outbreak of war she was one of a group of teachers evacuating children, and before her illness assisted with general war work.
