GERMAN AIRCRAFT
AT LEAST 240 SHOT DOWN DURING JULY HEAVY LOSS OF OFFICERS AND MEN. STATEMENT BY AIR MINISTRY. The Air Ministry states, Daventry reports, that 240 German planes have been shot down during July. This involved the loss of at least 600 officers and men. Many more enemy aircraft may have been put out of action in the air or on the ground, but the figure of 2-40 is the loss known for certain.
