WORTH NOTING. Apply Chinese white as used by artists to any stain on wallpaper. A child's paintbox will supply the colour to work on to the new surface to match the surrounding paper. If, after cleaning brass ornaments, the surfaces are varnished (one ounce of white shellac in a teacupful of methylated spirits), future cleansing will bo considerably reduced. Never throw away old tooth brushes. Use one when cleaning silver to get in between the tines of forks or into crevices whore an ordinary plate brush will not go. When polishing shoes or boots use an old brush t’o spread the boot polish thinly and evenly along the welts. The icing on a cake will not crack when il is cut if the icing is made with thin cream instead of milk or water, and the customary quantity of icing sugar is reduced by half.
