In the last 10 years the number of children attending native schools has increased by 49 per cent, from 6979 to 10.403. states the annual report of the senior inspector of native schools (Mr D. G. Ball), which has been tabled in Parliament. The report adds that the roll number has doubled in the hist 20 years, and at the same time the number and scope of the facilities provided have been augmented.
