EX-SERVICEMEN
SOCIAL IN MASTERTON.. ENJOYABLE TIME SPENT. Over 200 ex-servicemen gathered in the Masonic Hall last night when a social was held. Members of the R.S.A. were present from all parts of the Wairarapa. The proceedings were opened with the toast of "The King," followed by the showing of a number of movie films by Mr W. H. Saunders. The films related to a trip down the West Coast and the Franz Josef Glacier and included “shots” around Wellington, Masterton and Paraparaurnu. The display was enthusiastically received and Mr Saunders was suitably thanked. Barnes's Rhythm Boys entertained with musical items, which were interspersed with community singing. Mr F. L. Price and Mr O. Hemmingsen entertained with items. A ham donated by Mr W. M. Bannister was disposed of in aid of the recent Military Ball fund • and realised £4 18s. At the conclusion of the social those present who spent a most enjoyable time were provided with supper.
