FEATHERSTON
AILSA MCDONALD CUP SCHOOL CONTESTS. ("Times-Age” Special.) Basketball and football teams from the Martinborough District High School played Featherston school teams yesterday for the Ailsa McDonald Cup. The local boys were beaten at football by Martinborough by 19 to 11. The local girls won both basketball games, the A grade match by 17/6 and the B grade by 15/6. There is still another series of games to be played for the Cup. Featherston has now secured three wins, and the Featherston girls will hold the cup. The Mfirtinborough boys have been successful in the football contests. Trinity College Examinations. At the recent Trinity College practical examinations conducted by Mr Rupert Harvey at Wellington, the following pupils of Miss Betty Smith, L.T.C.L., were successful in passing in elocution: —First steps. Mary Willett; advanced preparatory, Joan Willett; junior, Hughla McPhee. Increased Production. In response to the Government's, appeal for more food production a number of sections in the Featherston borough, which have been in grass for many years, have been ploughed and are to be put down in crops.
