General Weygand, who is now Defence Minister, announced the demobilisation of the French armies in Syria and North Africa. Several ships have been chartered to try to repatriate ' those in Syria. The Government has I protested against the detention of AdI mirals Cayot and Villaine, and the | commanders of French ships which were in British ports when the armistice was signed.
