COSY THEATRE
“PYGMALION.”' Tonight “Pygmalion” will be shown starring Leslie Howard, Wendy Hiller, Wilfrid Lawson, and Marie Lohr. It is the reigning hit of every city in New Zealand. The world’s censor passed this amazing comedy success without one “cut.” It was shown for 8 weeks in Wellington, 7 weeks in Auckland and 7 weeks in Christchurch. A girl of the gutter is given her chance to make good by an egotistical language master, but whilst he could mould her speech and manners, he could not control her heart. “Pygmalion” is a brilliant achievement by the British film industry. This story of Eliza Doolittle and Professor Higgins is a gem of comedy. But Shaw is more than a jester, and in this picture is to be found his mocking scorn of the structure of society, wittily and vivaciously gilding a biting sermon on shallow conventions. Splendid featurettes include the latest newsreel, a clever comedy and a special cartoon.
