DAYLIGHT ATTACKS
MADE BY BRITISH BOMBERS Over Germany and Low Countries SUPPLY SHIP AND OTHER VESSELS DAMAGED NAVAL CRAFT SHOOTS DOWN DIVE-BOMBER An Air Ministry communique transmitted by Daventry states that on Monday bombers in daylight carried out attacks ever a widespread area of Germany and the Low Countries. A large supply ship was damaged near Flushing. Barges and ether shipping, oil refineries and several aerodromes in Holland and Germany were bombed. One British plane was lost. On Monday night 24 British aircraft which penetrated into enemy territory were' unable to locate their targets, owing to bad weather conditions and returned without dropping any bombs. Othei’ British planes attacked oil refineries, shipping, road and rail communications and docks. No losses were suffered and those taking part in the British operations included French airmen. Twenty-one Germafli' planes were shot down round the British coast on Monday"' Awo British fighters were lost. Yesterday two enemy bombers and one enemy fighter were destroyed. H.M.S. Guillemat, a patrol ship, shot down an attacking German dive-bomber yesterday. The ship suffered no casualties or damage.
