Mi- A. E. Flower has been re-elected chairman of the Canterbury University College Council. Mr J. G. Polson has been re-elected deputy-chairman. ■ Mr D. W. Oxnam has been awarded the Ensom prize for 1940 by the Canterbury University College Council. The prize is awarded annually for the best essay promoting the cause of international peace. The annual meeting of parishioners of the Anglican parochial district of Woodville elected the following officers: —Vicar’s warden, Mr A. H. Spackman; people’s warden, Mr E. H. Giles; vestry, Messrs G. L. Hartridge, D. Kenyon, T. S. R. Schaw, A. M. Pickering, R. R. Johnston. T. Smith. H. A. Pilcher, A. C. Vowell. P. W. Poulton (Kumeroa), and W. C. Arrow (Hopelands).
The following degrees have been conferred by the University o£ New Zealand: —Bachelor of Aris. —Auckland University College: James Henry Hodge. Bachelor of Commerce — Auckland University College: Eric Henry Halstead. Victoria University College: Edwin George Kcdgley. Bachelor of Agricultural Science. —Massey Agricultural College: Neville Stuart Joyce. Bachelor of Dental Surgery.— University of Otago: Robert Stuart Smart.
