GOLF CLUB COMPETITION RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following were the best cards handed in for the Stableford competition held on Saturday afternoon: —A. White, 22, 12, 34; I. Donald, 18, 14, 32; K. Allen, 26, 5. 31; H. Bloxam, 21, 10. 31; H. McCarty 17, 12, 29; A. Hoby, 17. 12, 29. The following is the draw for the club championships which will commence next Saturday:— Senior. W. Rowles v. winner of N. Shepherd v. D. Howells; K. Allen v. W. Jeffrey; W. Taylor v. winner of J. McCallum v. T. Lang; G. O’Neale v. winner of R. Donald v. H. Bloxam. Junior: A. White v. winner of L Donald v. H. Lawson; L. Benton v. winner of H. McCarty v. M. Benton; A. Hoby v. winner of J. Davis v. J. Willett; J. W. Card v. winner of H. Lovegrove v. H. Neilson. Personal Items. The funeral of the late Mr Thomas Bicknell was held at the Featherston Cemetery yesterday, the Rev. R. S. Keenan conducting services at the house and the graveside. The late Mr Bicknell had spent all his life in Featherston. He leaves a widow, two daughters vMrs Dittner and Miss E. Bicknell), and one son, Mr L. Bicknell. The pall-bearers at the funeral were Messrs M. Benton, J. Thompson, D. Wilson, P. Currie, G. Bicknell and W. Neilson. The funeral of the late Mr John Varnham took place at the Greytown Cemetery yesterdaythe Rev. J. T. Holland officiating at the services in rhe house and at the graveside. The late Mr Varnham was a son of the late Mr John Varnham, a member of a pioneer Wairarapa family. He leaves two sons (Lieutenant Colonel F. S. Varnham. who is serving overseas with the first New Zealand Echelon', and Mr J. C. Varnham, of Featherston), and one daughter (Mrs Alton Hunt, of Wakefield, Nelson). The late Mr Varnham went to Wellington < in his teens and entered the Government service. He retired in 1917 when undersecretary in the Education Department. The pall-bearers at the funeral were: Messrs A. Robbins. H. Lawson, K. McMaster, T. Tully, J. E. Willett, and H. Cundy. Ranger and Poundkeeper. The Featherston Borough Council has appointed Mr H. J. Frame ranger, poundkeeper and dog tax collector for the borough of Featherston.
