VOLUNTARY ENLISTMENTS
CENTRAL MILITARY DISTRICT TOTAL. NEARLY TWENTY THOUSAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Enlistments in the Central Military District up to the closing down of the voluntary system on July 22 totalled 19.548. Of those so far medically examined. 11.899 were passed as fit and 2,298 as permanently unfit. Altogether 7,764 had been despatched to camp. There were at. present 1,186 names on the temporarily unfit list. Details are, the figures in the following order indicating the total enlistments and the number fit. temporarily unfit, permanently unfit, and sent to camp respectively:— Wellington-Hutt Valley area: . 8 640, 5,364. 572, 1,134. 3 560: Wanganui-Pal-merston North 3,479. 1.607. 99. 150, 1.195: Hawke's Lay Gisborne - Wairarapa. 4 900. 3.155. 314. 663, 1,931: Taranaki. 2.529, 1773. 201 351. 1.078.
