GIBRALTAR BOMBED
ACCORDING TO SPANISH REPORT 7 ITALIAN ATTEMPT ON MALTA. PLANES PUT TO FLIGHT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON. July 27. A Madrid message says that Gibraltar was intensely bombed tonight. A message from Malta states that formations of enemy planes approached this morning, but disappeared on sighting British fighters. No bombs were dropped. An Italian communique issued in Rome, states that the naval base of Malta, was heavily bombed during the night.
