Knudsen, the defence production co-ordinator, stated that Britain would need to build 38 factories in the United States to obtain production of 3000 planes a month, while such production could not be reached before the middle of 1942. Mr Knudsen stated that he is preparing for the British authorities an estimate of the costs of the factories and equipment necessary. At present the United States is producing approximately 900 planes a month. Britain would obtain 236 planes from the August production.
