Miss Alva Wells, of Masterton, spent the weekend at Palmerston North.

Miss Freda Wrigley, Masterton. is the guest, of Major and Mrs Bruce McLeod, at Colyton. Miss E. Hosking, Wellington, was a weekend guest at the Hotel Midland, Mrf.terton.

. The death occurred at Pahiatua on Saturday’ of Mrs Catherine Hartley, wife of Mr Charles Henry Hartley, of Alfredton, at the age of 67 years. A quiet wedding was solemnised at St. David’s Church, Petone, recently, when Betty Court, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs D. W. Finlayson, McKenna Street, Masterton, was married to Maurice, .eldest son of Mr and Mrs G. P. Holland, Heretaunga Street, Petone. A cable announcing the marriage in London of Miss Clair Longmore, Wellington, and Dr Oliver Chapman, Dunedin, was received in Wellington last evening. Miss Longmore was wellknown in Wellington before her departure for England two years ago. The death occurred on Saturday at her home in Palmerston North of Mrs Elizabeth Ritchie, wife of Mr William Ritchie, at the age of 87. Mrs Ritchie was well known and held in the highest esteem in Palmerston North through her 30 years’ residence there, her prominent association with the Women’s Christian Temperance Union and her close connection with the Presbyterian Church.
