PERSONAL ITEMS

Mrs Nugent, of Gisborne, is on a visit to her sister, Mrs W. L. Hunter, Coradine Street, Masterton. Miss M. McKenna (Wellington) is the guest of Mrs J. McKenna, New Park, Newman.

Mr and Mrs W. Fossey, of New Plymouth, were visitors to Masterton this week. Mr and Mrs Fossey are former residents of Masterton. Mrs H. Jowett has been re-elected president of the Wellington branch of the Plunket Society and Mrs W. Bullock, formerly of Masterton, a vicepresident.

'The marriage of Sergeant-Instructor Arthur Campbell Pryde, to Miss Sheila Coates, elder daughter of the Rt Hon J. G. Coates and Mrs Coates will take place in Matakohe on Saturday. At the Dominion Council meeting of the New Zealand Women's Institutes at Wellington yesterday, the new executive elected was: —President, Miss Amy Kane, re-elected; Mesdames W. Deans (Darfield), Barnicoat (Kimbolton), Bennett (Belmont), McNaughton (Tauranga), Carey (Patea), Miss Wolters (Carter ton).

A farewell social was tendered'to Mrs M. Grigg at the residence of Mrs J. G. Dagg, Lansdowne, by the members of the Lansdowne Croquet Club. Cards were played, the winner being Mrs J. McGregor. Mrs Dagg, on behalf of the Croquet Club, presented Mrs Grigg with a crystal salad bowl, expressing regret at her departure from Masterton and wishing her every success in her new home. Mrs Grigg has left for Stratford, to which place Mr Grigg has been transferred.
