TARARUA POWER BOARD MONTHLY MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) 'I lie monthly meeting of the Tararua Power Boarci was held in the Board's Rooms Eketahuna. yesterday. the following members being present: Messrs I'. Davies (chair), A. W. Bissett, J. B. Carruthers C. T. Richardson, J. G. Brechin. W. Britland. S. K. Siddclls, E. W. Cheetham, L. Johnson, T. Fouhy. Leave of absence was granted to Mr W. Simpson. Accounts amounting to £6016 3s Id were passed for payment. The Secretary-Manager (Mr W. F. Taylor) in his report for June stated inter alia: On the schedule of the new connected load for June the following are mentioned as having been installed: 12 ranges. 14 watei healers. 10 motors. The revenue from all sources amounted to £3739 12s la New lean money to the amount oi £3OOO was received. Cash receipts on the trading account were £875 5s 3d. On electricty account £2864 6s lOd was collected. The sales of electricity were: Country districts £1824 19s sd. Pahiatua Borough £834 7s Bd, Eketahuna Borough £299 13s. Electricity sales for the quarter ended June 30, 1940, were £7370 as compared with £7125 for the same quarter of 1939. In both instances the gross figures are taken. This comparison shows ar: advance of 10.5 per cent. There may be other factors which have contributed to the advance in the load factor but a general increase in consumption is clearly borne out by the records—The report, was adopted. The Engineer Mr D. Fraser, reported on the month's work as follows: —The connected load has been increased this month as sot out below: Eketahuna Borough 6,120 k.v.a.: Eketahuna County 50,476 k.v.a.; Pahiatua Borough 58,624 k.v.a.; Pahiatua County 15.619 k.v.a.; Akitio County 101 336 k.v.a.; total. 232.225 k.v.a. Service lines: Eketahuna. new. 1; alterations 4; Pahiatua, new, 4; Alterations, 3. Eketahuna area: The services at Gibsons and r>enys, Nireaba, were overhauled and a new service run at Farreley’s, Mangamaire. Further tree cutting was carried out in the Nireaha district and with the assistance of the property owners several bad patches were cleared back from the lines. A start has been made; with the installation of a water heating pilot control wire in the borough. Maintenance work has been carried out on the low tension and telephone circuit at Hukanui. At 11 p.m. on June 27 the No 2 feeder switch opened at the Mangamaire substation. A patrol of the line was carried out and the; fault discovered on the Ngarata line about four miles from Alfredton, where a joint on one of the high tension wires had carried away. Owing to illness of the board's wireman the meter tester has been employed in wiring work for the greater part of the month. Pongaroa area: The Huia Road extension to Mr Harrison’s property was completed and the supply given to the settlers on June 19. This completes all work to be carried out by Mr Gray in accordance with his contract. It is interesting to note that nine out of the eleven consumers on this extension have installed electric; ranges and water heaters. BOBBY CALF POOL COMMITTEE ELECTED.
