FARMERS’ AFFAIRS

P. & A. SOCIETY MEETING AT CARTERTON TODAY. TROPHIES FOR COMPETITION. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa and East Coast A. and P. Society was held in the Farmers' Rooms, Carterton, this morning. The president, Mr T. A. McLeod, presided over a large attendance. Several apologies for absence were received. The relatives of the late Mr G. Neich (Carterton) and Mr H. B. Stuckey • Dannevirke) wrote thanking the society for expressions of sympathy in their bereavements. The treasurer, Mr Geo. Brown, reported that there was a credit balance of £4O 8s lid at the Bank of New Zealand, and another credit balance of .£448 14s 4d. making the total £489 3s 3d. Receipts since the last meeting totalled £l5 ss. Accounts amounting to £57 Is 8d were passed for payment. The Ellesmere A. and P. Association advised that its annual show would be held on October 24. The Southdown Sheep Society of New Zealand advised that it had awarded a medal for the best ram under 18 months, in natural condition, shown at the next show at Carterton. The New Zealand Aberdeen Angus Cattle Breeders’ Association wrote stating that it had awarded prizes in the following classes at the next show at Carterton:— Yearling male. 3gns.; yearling female, Ign.; 2-yr. bull, 3gns.; 2-yr. heifer, lgn.
