ENEMY RAIDER

OPERATING IN ATLANTIC TWO BRITISH SHIPS SUNK. SURVIVORS REACH WEST INDIES. The Admiralty states, Daventry reports, that an enemy raider is operating in the Atlantic. The Navy and the State Departments are officially stated to be investigating details of the sinking of two British merchant vessel near the West Indies, apparently within the interAmerican safety zone. This is regarded seriously, particularly as it is believed that it occurred near Cuba, which will be the scene of the PanAmerican conference on Sunday, in which hemisphere defence is likely to be the most important topic.
