WEDDING

SARGENT—JENSEN. A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised recently by the Rev. Father Devlin at St. Mary’s Church, Carterton, when Thomas George, son of Mr and Mrs G. E. Sargent, Dannevirke, was married to Ethel Mabel, only daughter of Mr and Mrs D. H. Jensen, Carterton. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was dressed in a frock of blue Swedena crepe with gold trimmings, and hat and shoes to match and carried a bouquet of spring flowers. The bride was attended by her cousin, Miss Alma Franks, as bridesmaid. She was attired in a frock of sage green with fawn accessories and carried a bouquet of autumn tints. Mr Jack Sargent, twin brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. A silver horseshoe, a gift from the bride’s Godson (Master Peter Anderson) was presented to her on leaving the church by her nephew, Danny Jensen, who wore an air force suit. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents where the usual toasts were honoured. The wedding cake was made and beautifully decorated by the bride's aunt, Mrs Martin Johnson.

Mr and Mrs Sargent left later by car for the north, the bride wearing a blue coat cut on military lines with navy accessories. They received many telegrams of good wishes and also several cheques.
