BRITISH CHILDREN
PREPARATIONS FOR RECEPTION TO PROCEED. REQUEST BY GOVERNMENT. It is the desire of the Government, notwithstanding the suspension meantime of the scheme to bring British children to this country, that preparations for the reception of the children should proceed, so that everything may be in train to accommodate them when they eventually arrive. Advice to this effect has been received by the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, from the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Parry. The letter from the Minister asks local authorities to continue the work of receiving applications from the public for taking children and to retain these applications until further notice. This will enable local authorities to keep the available information up-to-date by recording changes of address or in the circumstances of the prospective foster parents, so that the information will be available to the Government in a completely up-to-date form immediately it is required.
